Mind Body Awareness

Overview

Whole Person Care & Mind Body Awareness

Focus Healthcare believes we must treat the whole person. Therapeutic intervention and the breaking of unhealthy habits is a key component of recovery, as well as developing new, healthier coping mechanisms to deal with everyday stressors. Often, in the rush of daily life there is a sense of "something missing." Some people attempt to fill this void with unhealthy behaviors such as the use of drugs, alcohol, or disordered eating behaviors. Ultimately, these negative coping mechanisms lead to an unsatisfying experience. Our whole person care approach to recovery seeks to alter these destructive behaviors, by instituting more productive coping mechanisms, and habits.

Healthy coping mechanisms such as yoga, stretching classes, journaling, nia movement thereay, social outings, and mind body awareness are more conducive to achieving long term behavioral change.

Mind body awareness is a key component to developing these healthy coping strategies. It is the art of balanced meditation, bringing ones body, breathe, mind, and heart to a rate of profound stillness and peace. When the skill of mind body awareness is mastered, it can be used to still mental fluctuations and move your mind in a calm effortless flow. It is a skill that can be learned, and practiced, in everyday life as a healthy coping mechanism when dealing with stressors and bumps in the road to your recovery.
