At the Center for Eating Disorders at Focus Healthcare, we understand eating disorders not only affect the individual, but also play a large role in the life of family and friends. Our family program is an essential element of out treatment program.

If appropriate, each patient spends an hour a week working, either in person or on the phone, with their primary therapist and family members. We also encourage family members to attend a three day family session that is scheduled during a patient’s stay at the Center for Eating Disorders.

Each week, if appropriate, the primary therapist will update designated family members on the progress of the patient. Of course, the patient will have full knowledge of this update and will have signed all necessary releases.

We believe the family system is an integral part of treatment and encourage family members not only to participate, but to learn more about eating disorders and how the disorder has affected each member of the family.

The Center for Eating Disorders is here not only to help individual recovery, but to facilitate a healing process for the entire family.
