Our excellent staff is well trained in evidence-based techniques of treating eating disorders. Our program includes:
Psychiatric and Medical Care: Every patient, based on their initial needs assessment, receives medical care provided by the experienced physicians of Focus Healthcare.
Dual Diagnosis: We accept dually diagnosed patients, and in conjunction with the chemical dependency program at Focus Healthcare, we are able to customize a treatment plan for anyone struggling with an eating disorder and any type of chemical dependency. Additionally, we treat clients with co-occurring mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and trauma issues.
Individualized Therapy: Each patient receives two individual sessions per week. One of these sessions may be devoted to family work, based on the patient’s needs.
Process Groups: Our interpersonal process groups help our patients learn to express their feelings in a healthy manner while learning more about themselves in a safe, supportive, atmosphere.
Yoga: Our yoga classes provide a positive way to integrate mind and body.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy: This research based therapy helps patients learn to regulate emotions and increase self-awareness and has had excellent results in the treatment of eating disorders.
Meditation: A proven relaxation technique, allows time to be mindful in a safe, supportive environment.
Nutrition Education Groups: Led by a registered dietician, these groups help patients learn to establish a healthy relationship with food.
Cooking Classes and Restaurant Outings: These therapeutic outings and classes help to normalize food and cooking, while developing life skills.
Individual Nutritional Counseling: Each patient receives an individualized meal plan and one session with our Registered Dietician weekly.
Family Therapy: Family therapy is essential in the long term healing of eating disorders. Each patient has a specific treatment plan for family therapy. Counseling and education are key components of our program and are based on the needs of each patient.
Experiential Therapies: Art, movement, psychodrama…our experiential groups are integrated into each treatment plan and are an effective way to explore underlying emotional issues.
Life Skills Training: Teaching skills that many patients will need in recovery, but may not have learned previously; such as managing money and budgeting, job interviewing skills and organizing daily schedules.
Relapse Prevention Learning to live without eating disordered behaviors is a primary goal of the Center for Eating Disorders. Each patient works with their primary therapist to develop detailed relapse prevention and aftercare plans.
