Focus Treatment Principles

Treatment is Comprehensive. This principle reflects the belief that effective treatment will touch all aspects of a patient’s life. A patient receiving comprehensive treatment will be impacted emotionally, physically, intellectually, interpersonally, and spiritually.

Treatment is Intense. This principle reflects the belief that treatment may be a once in a lifetime opportunity, a crossroads or critical turning point that may determine the quality of the remainder of a patient’s life. For this reason, every effort is made to design programs and interventions that capitalize fully on the time that each day in treatment presents, and pushes each person to achieve the maximum possible benefit from their stay in treatment. Focus has counselors working seven days providing Primary Therapy Groups every day of a patients stay.

Treatment is Individualized. While certain aspects of treatment and recovery apply to all, each person presents with their own unique set of circumstances, history and problems to overcome. Every effort is made to know the patient, fully and deeply, and to create a plan of care that directly meets that person’s most immediate needs for personal recovery. Our clinical team has diverse backgrounds, strengths, and areas of interest allowing us to match each patient to the right counselor to best meet their need.

Treatment is Multi-Modal. Important insights and contributions to the treatment of addictive and psychiatric disorders have come from many quarters; medicine, psychiatry, psychology and the behavioral health fields, nutrition, social work, and others. Multi-modal treatment acknowledges and encourages contributions from all these disciplines and from diverse perspectives.

Treatment is Outcome Focused. This principle reflects the belief that treatment must be driven toward specific, behavioral objectives and that an outcome for treatment must be expressed in advance and measurable after treatment is completed. Outcome research is a key methodology for advancement of clinical knowledge.
